Episode 43: What makes a good marriage Great? Part 2: A conversation about Identity and the values that shape us.

*Over the next several weeks we will be covering key principles or virtues that we believe are important to helping you achieve optimal performance and reach your full potential in every area of your life!

On today’s episode we continue the conversation with our dear friends, Calvin and Rhona Little.  These two are near to our hearts.  They are modeling some key principles that we believe can help you create a deeper commitment to your spouse and live into your full potential.

Today’s episode starts off talking about identity and how they navigated the blending of their two stories.  Throughout the episode they share stories about how they learned the skills to create the marriage they desire. Embodying these essential virtues has been a key to shaping their character.  When we asked these two to be on the podcast we knew it was going to be good.  We honestly thought we would ask a few questions and have a great time.  When we did the podcast we realized that the story that they were telling about themselves had so many of the principles we utilize in our coaching we knew we had to We didn’t know how well it would fit within the concepts used in our coaching practice.  Today the episode revolves around the idea of creating a new identity as a married couple without losing their individuality.  This is an important concept so you will want to pay attention to how they worked through this. We will continue our look at the virtues of:

Learnability – The ease with which a person is able to learn and absorb new information.

Empathy – The ability to join the emotional state of another person, to feel what another person feels.

Humility – Self- aware and transparent about one’s weaknesses and strengths.

Authenticity –  Alignment between, thoughts, beliefs and actions despite external or internal pressure.

And we add:

Truthfulness – The quality of being honest

Gratitude – The quality of being thankful

Resilience – The capacity to recover quickly from difficulties

You will not hear these named and described you will see them put into practice in how Calvin and Rhona live out their faith and live their authentic life!
